The Samaúma, also known as the Kapok tree in English, is considered one of the largest and most majestic trees of the Amazon rainforest, capable of reaching heights of up to 90 meters. Often referred to as the “Mother of the Forest,” it holds a deeply respected place within many indigenous traditions across the Amazon basin, including among Mayan cultures.
Its immense root system reaches deep into the Earth, drawing water from underground sources not only for itself, but also sustaining countless plants, animals, and organisms that live around it. In many Amazonian traditions, the Samaúma is regarded as a living bridge between worlds — a sacred presence of wisdom, strength, and protection. Forest stories speak of an enchanted spirit moving through the tree, communicating through mysterious knocks echoing in the jungle.
This Samaúma Rapé (Hapé) incense blend is available within Europe and is prepared in small batches with careful attention to authenticity, quality, and respectful sourcing.
Crafted according to traditional methods passed down through generations, each preparation preserves both the botanical integrity of its ingredients and the ancestral knowledge connected to its origin.
Within indigenous traditions, botanical blends such as Samaúma reflect a profound relationship between people and the living forest, where plants are understood not only through their physical properties, but also through their cultural, spiritual, and ecological significance.
Each batch carries the character of its place of origin, shaped by the environment, the traditions of the community, and the knowledge of the artisans who prepare it.
Samaúma Rapé is often explored alongside other Amazonian botanical incense blends, reflecting the diversity and richness of traditional plant-based practices from the region.
We collaborate directly with indigenous communities and small-scale producers throughout the Amazon, supporting traditional craftsmanship, fair and respectful exchange, and environmentally conscious harvesting practices.

This botanical blend is traditionally used in ceremonial and aromatic practices and may be gently burned on charcoal during rituals or moments of reflection.
